THE MOTHER WE SHARE ; MELANCHOLY & THE INFINITE DESPONDENCY.

We all gazed at the green flag,
With eyes saying the words we dare not whisper.

Considering & reconsidering,
Guessing & guessing again,
The more we look, the more we’re mystified.

My mothers pray for hope,
My fathers bow heads in incertitude.

In the children’s frightened eyes, we remember when that season came
They promised to make things better
They said they’ll hurt with us

Hopefully, there was something better down the road

Democracy has yet again become a sinister chicanery
Our liberty remain phantasmagoria .

Of all the times we opened our hands to let some vital things go,
We seldom noticed our empty palms &
The vast power they suddenly held .

On this ground that doesn’t forget
Soaks the blood of my siblings
But they blame us for not choosing to live &
Call us Shame to the land from which we sprung.

We try to repaint the red sky but we’ve ran out of optimism

With sad & angry eyes
We depend on the clemency of the spirits
We wait for the handout of god

When all we’ve got is the mother we share ;
Melancholy & the infinite despondency.
